I have been looking for this book for years! I vaguely remember the title for the book but every search I have made comes up with the wrong book.

The front of the book has a house with a tower room and I remember leaves and trees being apart of the scenery. Possibly fall but could have been spring. The window is a main focus of the tower and I'm not sure if a light was on.

The title from what I can remember is something a long the lines of the ghost in the tower or the secret tower room. Maybe even the girl in the tower? It is not a part of a series and is more of a young adult short read.

I read this book back in 2002-2003, but I'm pretty sure it's from the 80s or 90s. It had an older feel to it and the illustration on the front was not from a recent time.

The plot for the book is about a girl and her father who move into a new house with his girlfriend and her son I believe. The daughter and son do not get a long very well and I don't think the girl likes her fathers new love interest. They let her have a room with a door in it that leads to a tower. It has a special key that locks it. She loves painting or drawing and that is where they believe she can have her own little art studio to feel more at home in this new house. Later weird things start happening and she discovers theres an evil presence that lives in the tower and so she tries to keep the door locked. I believe she also tries to tell her dad & new stepmom, but no one will believe her. They blame her for all the weird stuff happening as they think she hates it there and her new family. In the end the ghost in the tower tries pushing her out of the window or maybe pushes the little boy out? Something crazy and bad happens and she finally figures out why the ghost was trapped up there and "releases" it. At the very end they have a nice picnic in the backyard and everything is back to normal again.

I really hope someone knows what this book is because it was such a good book I'm sad I can't remember it or even find it anywhere.

Okay so i only remember scattered things about this book, but I'm trying to find it. So, here goes nothing.

1) it was a young adult book, i read it in like 2015.

2) so the main character is a boy. His parents died in some sort of accident, so he moved in with his aunt, maybe his grandmother, in a small town. He made friends with the florist's daughter, i think they were an Indian family. He screws up his neighbor's garden and has to fix that, sparking a sort of friendship. He thinks she's a witch. Turns out there is a portal in his town that leads to hell and in hell there is a people zoo where the demons can look at the people and change their appearance to look like the humans. The florist's daughter gets kidnapped and taken there. With the help of his neighbor he gets his friend back. His neighbor turns out to be a demon.

3) i think the main character's name was Jacob

EDIT: Found! It's Cry of the Icemark, by Stuart Hill.

I've been trying and failing to find this book for years, so I might as well try here! \o/
I read this YA Fantasy book in 2012 at the latest, but I doubt it was published earlier than 2000. What I remember:

1) The protagonist was a princess of some kind(?), or possibly the daughter of the leader of some kind of warrior tribe. Possibly red-haired.
2) The mother of the protagonist is dead pre-book. I think the father dies at the beginning of the first book.
3) The protagonist goes to a land with ice/snow and makes peace with a race of giant talking beasts that her people fear. I'm pretty sure the beasts are snow leopards. The protagonist rides at least one of them at some point, I think.
4) The protagonist has a guy love interest. When she meets him, he's trying to help heal someone, I think? He's some kind of wizard / has magic. He might be called Oscar.
5) At some point, near the end of the book, the love interest bursts into flames (due to magic gone wrong, maybe?) and he's horribly burnt. I seem to recall him running around a courtyard of some kind while naked?
6) The cover might be the red-haired protagonist accompained by a snow leopard / white beast, but I might be confused here.
7) There's a second book, in which the protagonist and her love interest are not teens anymore, but adults with several children, and those children are the main focus. I think the book starts with one of their children betraying the rest.

(Crossposted to [community profile] whatwasthatbook.)

I seem to recall that said author was a woman, and the series as fairly recent/ongoing. The Species Hat of these mice was a compulsion to imprint religiously--the way that ducklings will imprint filially upon the first living creature they see--on whatever might happen to awe them; I recall objects of worship including a cake, an oak tree, and a chicken (I imagine the last was a short-lived denomination, to judge by various YouTube farming videos.)

The most fortunate bunch chose the protagonist and her family--who were prepared to deal with and protect eccentric sapient critters--as their pantheon.

In pure desperation of finding a book I read some years ago I stumbled over this community and I thought I'd give it a try.

For about three years ago I found a book (or really a paperback if my memory is to trust) with three short "books" or "stories". From what I remember, the cover was light blue and  I am sure that it was a little old. -Old in the sense of being bought (and written) around 1980, 1990 maybe earlier. The thing that makes this book so hard to find is just because it was three, three different stories, written by different authors, and it's quite possible that it was just one publisher that decided to publish those together and that they dont "exist together".

All these three stories fits into the category for sex or/and erotic reading (I don't remember how far it went).
And I don't seem to remember any thing more about two of the stories more then the fact that they were included. However the third story (not necessarily the order represented in the book) is what gives me hope on maybe finding it.

In this story we meet a young woman who is really good at scuba diving and takes a job on a boat (maybe a smaller boat), and that leads too a hot romance between her and the owner, captain, someone(?).  At one time she falls asleep in the stem (the front of the boat) and when he finds her he gets angry and take her to his cabin. She got a horrible sunburn and after he screamed(?) at her and explained what a wasted thing she's done, he tells her to sit (lay?) down on the bed. Then he takes some sort of aloe vera/ cooling creme/ healing creme and begins to lubricate(?) her. I remember the description of the burning feeling she felt and that he wander up along her thigh and then very smooth slided his hand under her shorts. His fingers brushed her skin and he reached the bush between her legs...

The question marks -(?)- are little wonders of mine that means that I'm either unsure about the grammar or I just don't remember the part so well.
As for the words in Bold, thoose are certain things that I am completely sure about.

If someone recognize any of this please comment and help me find this book!
Thank You!

I recall reading this book at least 20 years ago. It was a place where women were perhaps training for war. They wore red leather to hide the bloodstains. Sort of like a Mistress/slave dynamic. I can't remember which world it was in, possibly Dragonlance? I don't believe this was the main part of the story, more like just a part of the whole tale, maybe a few chapters? I've been racking my brain, and can't seem to find anything with Google. Can nyou help?

I don’t remember much about this book, just the cover has a dragon on it , either looking down from a mountain peak or the top of a building.

The only part of the story besides vague snippets that I remember is the beginning. The main character either goes into the cellar to get something or to hide from the dragon but he is the only survivor of a dragon attack? The whole village is gone. That is all I remember. Been looking for this book for days.

Any help would be great thanks!

I remember only a few things:

1) the protagonist was female

2) she was in a cult that was literally under ground.

3) when she got out she marveled at the fact that women's dresses no longer had large poofy sections at the wrist and instead had poofy sections at the shoulder.

4) she was shocked at how much time had passed.

5) she was nobility of some kind

I'm trying to track down a book I read as a kid. It was a 1970s era YA mystery. Here are the few details I remember:
The main character had a friend who was a genius inventor. One of his inventions was a retractable staircase.
The main character had a newspaper route and was in a contest to sell subscriptions.
One of the mysteries involved what turned out to be a (friendly) family of circus performers.
At the end, the circus family purchased a number of newspaper subscriptions that resulted in the main character winning (I think) the subscription contest.

I really don't remember much more about the book, but I'm hoping these details will ring a bell with somebody.

Thank you.

Hi everyone, I am wondering about a book-series (at least what I remember being a series) I read in the mid-2000s.

From what I can remember, the book was centred around two children/teenagers. One of them a boy, the other a girl. They might have been related, as well. Somehow, they arrange some magic stones that open a portal into a different world where magic is present. It becomes apparent that there are several different worlds that they can travel to through these rocks, each rock having signs that symbolize what world they visit might consist most of (like rocks with ice, water and snow will send them into a very cold and chilly world). They meet a wizard (I'm pretty sure), who belongs to an order. He turns out to be not that nice. The girl has strong magic abilities, she also finds out that her father might belong to one of these worlds and she becomes desperate to find him. I think the wizard hatches a basilisk, who is very intelligent, and who begins to turn everyone in the village to stone. The boy, if I am not remembering wrong, has the ability to shapeshift. I am pretty sure he is able to turn into a wolf.

I cannot for the life of me find out what this series is called, please help me! I would love to revisit them.

I didn't read this book but someone else was trying to find this book for 6 years and had no luck so I thought I would try posting their description here.

"I remember reading this fantasy romance novel about a princess (or of a similar standing) being arranged to marry prince from another dark place. I can't seem to remember the name of the book and I never got around to finishing it. Every year, several times a year, I try to do random searches on the net to see if new search terms will reveal this book to me.

I have failed for the past 6 years, so I thought it was high time I asked you guys.

This is what I remember from the novel:

1) The heroine was betrothed from someone from her kingdom/place.

2) She was arranged to be married off for reasons of alliance.

3) It was not forced, in the sense that she knew it was her duty to do the best she could for her people. Her parents also loved her and loathed to have her married off.

4) She sees the hero for the first time at her wedding, she describes him as big and wearing all black. She is somewhat afraid of him.

5) They leave for his kingdom, pretty much after the wedding. On the way there they are assaulted by a band of bandits, or enemies who do not want this alliance (can't remember which one).

6) The heroine is pretty good with a sword and uses that to defend herself. Her new husband becomes enraged that she would defy his orders to stay in the carriage. This other older man is there, a knight? but someone who is almost fatherly towards the hero (later on the heroine finds out that this older man is the hero's father).

7) The couple consummate their wedding in a pond on the way to his kingdom. An affront to my since found feminist sensibilities, but the heroine was a virgin.

8) The hero's castle/home is described as dark, gloomy.

9) The hero lives with his mother and mother's father (the king?) in the castle. The grandfather hates the hero's mother. His mother was married to someone

10) I think, now here, my memory becomes a little fuzzy, but the heroine might have some powers of healing?

11) There is a scene in the bathtub between her and the hero. I don't know why I remember these scenes. :D

12) The heroine finds out something that might affect her kingdom's safety and so she gets on a horse and rides all the way back to her kingdom. She knows that her husband will come back to get her. He does."

I think it had “miracle” in the title and it was sometime in the mid 80’s to early 90’s. A mother has a car accident, the car goes on fire, she can’t get the car seat out but a Good Samaritan does and I remember she originally wished the baby wasn’t rescued because he was so badly burned. Lots of surgeries and the baby lived but had burns all over.

This has been driving me nuts for years. It's a book I read when I was a little girl. All I can really remember about it was one of the two main characters was a gypsy and she could tell fortunes. I remember that she was better at it than her mother and she could do magic through meditation - breath in one nostril and out the other. I also remember the book started with the villain going to visit the girl and her mother to get his fortune told.

I think there was a second character who was a boy and there was an adventure to save their world or kingdom or something similar. I know it's not a lot of information, hense me never being able to find it on Google. >.< Any points in the right direction would be wonderful.

I don’t remember much but I do remember it being on cassettes and a brother and sister who wrote and illustrated awful stories that their parents hated, they use the bedroom wall as paper and their parents send them to a school for troubled children that has tornados around it so they have to wear cement shoes when they walk around the school
Please if anyone knows it, please let me know! It’s been driving me crazy for years

I read this novel when I WAS a teen, but it was aimed for a young adult crowd. Between 2005-2008. I love this book so much I had my mom print it out for me because I wanted to read it offline too. (I know I’m awful, but it was never available or purchase.)

Definitely a vampire novel. Three different tiers of vampires. The main character is one of the highest tiers, and she hunts the lowest tier vamps. Their classification starts with an ‘M’ I believe.

Main character is roommates with a “middle tier” vamp, which is like a big faux pas. Roommate gets killed. It’s a really big deal.

There’s a prophecy about the main character and her entire existence, dating back to past lives (?) I believe.

the prophecy was put down through a vampire being able to “See” it and painting it with (his) blood! He paints the prophecy incorrectly because it portrays HIM as ruining the world somehow

Vampires were created to be a companion to someone else that “God” made (not called God in the book).

Main character has a sister who is involved with the big bad in the book in some way, I think. Sister is crazy.

MCs roommates name might’ve been Gabriella/Gabrielle/Gabby. She is possibly a stripper.

Book starts off with MC hunting for the bottom tier “bad” vampires at a really well to do party.

I *think* the authors first name started with a K. That or the MC started with a K.

Driving me crazy trying to find it. The website was white with some gothic-esque frills on it.

This lady wrote several novels/novellas on her website.

Around 2014-2015 I was assigned a book in my eighth-grade reading class

It was about a girl whose family had to move to a new area because her father had murdered someone and they were under witness protection. The story started on her first day at her new school. I remember a scene before she left where she was talking with her mother about how she and her sister had to go by different last names in order to stay safe.

The main character was very reserved I think. She ate lunch outside by herself, writing poems in a journal. Either during the same day or later that week a boy sat nearby with a sketchbook and began drawing. Eventually, he approaches the main character and shows her a portrait he had drawn of her, They continue talking and the boy Invites her over to his house. Shortly after, thr main character learns the boy's last name and realizes that he was the son of the man her father murdered.

Upon finding out about this, The main character leaves school early, not before throwing up in the parking lot.

I didn't read much past that.

I can't remember many details but I think the book cover was dark green and the love interest may have been named Brandon or something similar?

I also distinctly remember the writing being very emotional? A few classmates and I had talked about how it was difficult to read through some chapters in class without crying.

I'm looking for a book that I read a long time ago, long enough that I don't have any real certainty on when it was published or purchased. If I had to guess, I would say it's Judy Blume era? The narrative style and physical book seemed vaguely 1970s to me, but I wouldn't stake a bet on it.

The book itself about a teenage boy who plays pool for fun, and his family (possibly his grandfather?) owns a pool hall. His father, who is dead, was a pool prodigy, and the main character shares some of this skill. He also is getting bullied by another, larger teenage boy. So the main boy's pool hall is going to have some kind of pool competition, and there will be a teens section, but the boy's mother doesn't want him to. Then his dead father's best friend shows up in town after a long time, and agrees to train the boy to win the competition. At some point the bully break's the main boy's wrist, but I can't remember if that's before or after he starts training for the competition.

Something that I especially remember is that the boy's father used to look at a pool table and see geometric strings connecting the balls and demonstrating the proper angles to shoot, which was part of why he was so good. So while the boy is training, he uses literal string to practice this.

SPOILERS HERE
When the competition itself happens, the boy's wrist is sore and he has to ice it the whole day, but he plays very well. He is competing with the bully in the final round and then he suddenly sees the strings!
END SPOILERS

That's pretty much all that I remember. I know it's not a lot to go on, but if anyone knows what it is, that would be amazing. Thanks!!

, I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to tell me the name of a series that I am trying to remember.
Details I remember about it are:
The main character is a superhero who is a male but can change shape and turns female to protect his identity when doing super things.
His powers come mainly from an experiment that gave him the ability to change his power level in ways such as more speed but less strength, more strength but less durability, and so on.
At first he doesn't want to be a hero but is convinced in the first book.
In one of the books he starts a school for super powered children on an old villian? base that's technically not part of any nation. It gets attacked and some of the students are kidnapped.
He has a relationship with one of his superhero teammates both as his normal self and his female alterego. (Same sperson and she does know about him being both)
His neice attends the school

Hi, all. I had posted this years ago to the livejournal community but never got an answer. My google-fu is clearly failing me so I thought I'd post it again.

I'm looking for a mystery book that would have come out around 1985-1995. It wasn't for elementary school kids. Maybe more junior high age range? It was illustrated like a comic book but smaller and stiffer (with a soft cover). If it helps, I'm pretty sure I bought it on a trip to Cape Cod. The book was completely illustrated, full colored drawings, and would have little drawings of clippings or photographs most of which would have important details.

The main story was about a journalist/magazine writer sent to a soap opera set. (I want to say the Soap Opera was titled "Working" or "Working out" or something to that effect and was about a gym/fitness center.) The ending involved the screen writer's pen being leaky, a tell-tale pyramid shaped ring, an untold family reunion and a child actress wanting to be a reporter/editor. Almost every character in the story had a secret they were hiding. I'm really curious to know the name of it and more so if this was part of a series of books.
