Ok I’ve been looking for this book for AGES. I read it when I was younger probably around 2012-2014 era, and I’m pretty sure it was a pretty new children’s novel back then.

I don’t quite remember the plot, but I remember som key details. The cover was mostly red with I think a black silhouette running or something on the cover. I know covers of course can change so I don’t know how helpful that will be.

The main character was a young girl who I think lived with her stepdad? It was set in the future in this really clean city where the dumpsters were all clear plastic and everything was very clean. I specifically remember the car horns we advertisements because her stepdad hit the horn in traffic and an ad would play (like a radio commercial coming out of the cars horn, every car was like this it was something futuristic I guess). This girl got really bad headaches all the time I remember, and here is the big part: she was being followed by some creature. This creature wasn’t harmful and it was almost like a human, but I’m pretty sure it was a golem which needed a slip of paper in its mouth to be able to come to life.

Unfortunately that’s all I remember, but I want to find this book again so badly! Thank you!

This is a book I read at primary school in the UK, so would have been published before 1991 as that was the year I left the school.
It was a slim hardback book about ghosts, I think it was just called "Ghosts", and the cover was blue with a shrouded skeleton with glowing eyes on. I think it was published by Scholastic, but that might be my memory playing ticks on me.
Pages I remember include these pink creatures that lived in graveyards, that were fatal to look at, so someone put mirrors up to kill them, and an account of the ghost of Abraham Lincoln. (Clocks stopping at the time of his death as a ghostly train went through a station?)
It isn't the recently republished Usborne World of the Unknown "Ghosts" book, but it is very similar in style.

Hello

I'm trying to find a book I read years ago which I don't remember the author.
The book is about fictional birds, but it is written as if the birds were real, with tips about where to find them across the United States, along with illustrations of each bird and a full description of their biology and other things of that nature.
Some of the entries feature a bird that is red, white and blue and it sings the national anthem, vulture that grows a colorful crest but only for a few days each year, and a white normal looking bird that changes the colors of their feathers to blue or pink depending of the bird being male or female for just a few weeks each year, along with the shells of their eggs also changing color for that time according to the gender of the unborn bird still inside.

It is an old book, I read it for the first time in 1996.

I read these 2 books about 8ish years ago, so I don't remember the titles but I remember the details and google isn't helping me at all.
Book #1: All I can remember about this book is that it about a girl and a unicorn, they travel through a few tapestries. Not a picture book.
Book #2: I remember a lot more about this book. It is about a boy and a few friends who are in a town that has a door that is guarded in town that is separated by a stream or river with eels that eat people and their faces change based on the person's face that they ate. I think the book had a small leopard or something next to the door. I remember the door took them to like a fantasy place and he found like his uncle in there that he thought was dead.

Any help at all is extremely grateful, I've thought about this so much for the past few years.

I seem to recall that said author was a woman, and the series as fairly recent/ongoing. The Species Hat of these mice was a compulsion to imprint religiously--the way that ducklings will imprint filially upon the first living creature they see--on whatever might happen to awe them; I recall objects of worship including a cake, an oak tree, and a chicken (I imagine the last was a short-lived denomination, to judge by various YouTube farming videos.)

The most fortunate bunch chose the protagonist and her family--who were prepared to deal with and protect eccentric sapient critters--as their pantheon.

I read the first one of this series between 2008 and 2009. The parts that I remember about it was that the main character was a virgin and somehow her being a virgin gave her abilities of some sort. early in the book she got drunk and had a one night stand, also there was a horse that ate a human in order to get three wishes one of which was the ability to digest meat so he wouldn't die, the other was the ability to breathe fire and the third was to be giant.

I don't remember exact details ,but the female protagonist took a small person with her from one world to her world( might be a pixie). He lives in her house with her always eating her food. One event that occurred was that the main character brought her love interest home with and got freaky. The morning following he gets up early in the nude to cook the main character food she he encounters her roommate the pixie person. The audience discovers the same time the main character does that her roommate can grow to average size and shrink back to tiny size.
