been trying for years to remember this series I read when I was younger, but I can't remember the title, author or cover.

all I remember about it is random pieces of the plot + smaller details.

- normal, teenage girl (believe she's blonde, could be wrong) is dating her best friend.

- new boy moves to town, believe his name is close to either malachai/malakai, and is later found out to be some demon kind of create (or at least can summon them through a portal he opens up near the end of the book)

- people start to wind up dead and are found in this forest like area in the town

- girl develops magic and at some point (idk if its the first book or later in the series) accidentally zaps her lipstick and melts it in the school bathroom

- crows or ravens pop up a lot, which is later found out to be connected to demons

I believe either shadow or dark/darkness was in the title but I could very well be wrong. I also read this pre 2010 and know there is at least 3 books in the series. Please help :(

Okay so i only remember scattered things about this book, but I'm trying to find it. So, here goes nothing.

1) it was a young adult book, i read it in like 2015.

2) so the main character is a boy. His parents died in some sort of accident, so he moved in with his aunt, maybe his grandmother, in a small town. He made friends with the florist's daughter, i think they were an Indian family. He screws up his neighbor's garden and has to fix that, sparking a sort of friendship. He thinks she's a witch. Turns out there is a portal in his town that leads to hell and in hell there is a people zoo where the demons can look at the people and change their appearance to look like the humans. The florist's daughter gets kidnapped and taken there. With the help of his neighbor he gets his friend back. His neighbor turns out to be a demon.

3) i think the main character's name was Jacob

So I read this book a while ago back it 7th or 8th grade, it was about this demonic carnival that they got sucked into. The book starts with these group of teenagers at the local carnival and I remember the main character has a younger brother who had a hat that had the middle finger and the younger brother loved the hat. The only other major part of the book I remember is while in the demonic carnival the main character finds himself in this mirror maze, where if you walk into a mirror you actually walk through it and the mirror changes you and if you walk through too many you bring to turn into a hideous monster. Which that what happens to his girlfriend. That's really all I can remember besides I think the book was call Thrill Ride, but I can't find anything like it online. Hope someone can help me out!
