Hi, friends!

I'm searching for a book that I believe I read sometime around 2002/2003.
The MC is a young girl (maybe 10 years old? Possibly younger...Wish I remembered more!) with a younger baby brother and a mentally ill mother. The MC is always looking out for her brother and taking abuse from the mother in attempts to shield the little boy.

At some point the MC goes to the house of one of the mother's ex-boyfriends, she feels somewhat safe there. The mother's ex is sympathetic, and I think he tries to help/protect/support the kids. Legally, he has no power to help.

One scene that stands out in my memory: The mother is driving with the girl in the front seat and the baby boy asleep in the backseat. The mother intentionally drives in the wrong lane, heading for oncoming traffic and refuses to go back into her lane. She demands that the MC first say "I love you." The MC does to protect her brother.

The kids are separated later in the story. The mother takes the baby and leaves the girl (maybe with an aunt? Or the mother's ex). There is an effort to find the mother and baby boy, and I think the two ended up hiding in a boatyard with the mother's sketchy new boyfriend.

I will be so grateful if anyone can help me!
Thank you!

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a book that I read a good 10 years ago but couldn't for the life of me remember the book title or the author. It was about a baby getting kidnapped and the story centred around the mother's search for the baby and the extent she is willing to go and how the search changed her. If memory serves me right, it was like she was willing to kill or something..
Would love to read this book again so any help will be much appreciated!

I read this years ago. Was a pretty gruesome story. I can't remember much. Let's call the characters A and B. Character A carjacked character B. Character B stole character Ads knife collection. Character A is a serial killer or something and decides he's going to kill character B over the theft. He ends up kidnapping character B and injuring him badly? Any ideas?

HI all, new member here.
For a few months now I have had no luck finding a book I read in my younger years, and then I found this place, and I hope you are able to at least point me in the right direction.

The story is based around a woman who has recently lost her sister through suicide,
It involves a deformed individual with the ability to control a person through mind control, including his own brother who he uses to kidnap the main woman in the story.
I don't remember much else other than...
There was a man who was helping her,
He may or may not have been a detective.
She ends up being controlled against her will.

I think the book cover depicted a woman lying in a puddle of broken glass on the pavement/sidewalk.. but not too sure.

If anybody knows the book or title i would be most grateful for it.
Many thanks in advance.

The book I'm looking for is something I read maybe 8 or so years ago. I believe that the book was an adult novel as it was something I got from my mother's bookshelf and had it a pretty "heavy" sex scene in it as I recall, so I don't believe it was something I got from school, being about 13 at the time.

What I can remember from the plot:
A single man gets custody of his teenage son after the boy's mother dies. If I recall correctly this is either the first time they're meeting or the first time in a long while. The boy doesn't know his father at all and thinks him odd, mostly because of his allergy to the sun. Strange things are going on around town like people going missing and being murdered and I suppose there are some Satanic aspects to these incidents because it's rumored around town that it's a vampire devil person or whatnot. The boy believes that his father is responsible and is a vampire, due to the sun allergy and being slightly odd. I can't remember if his father had done anything specific to make his son think he's a vampire or a killer. I believe the boy is just angry, sad, and dislikes his father a great deal for being absent. Anyway, the father teams up with a woman (love interest) and I believe that they are looking into some of the things going on around town. I don't remember anything about the woman or why the two of them are investigating together or at all, but I do remember he's spending time with this woman. The boy meets a girl and I don't remember much about her except that she wears different colored tights or something like that and gives the boy half of her sandwich when they meet. It turns out that the killings and whatnot have been done by a group of "satanic gothy" type teens who are being manipulated by a man. Now, I can't recall if this man who is doing the manipulating is an actual vampire or just a creep. I do remember that the group of teens kidnap the girl that the boy had become friends with because she's a virgin and they're going to sacrifice her or something and the evil man is going to drink her blood. The boy is injured, I believe it's his ankle that gets broken, and he's being held hostage and during this time I believe he sees his dead mother's ghost or something and talks to her.

That's all I can recall about the book, sorry if it's a bit long winded but I wanted to include as much as I could remember. Hope someone can help (:

I’m trying to find a book I read about 2014 but was probably published a while before that, the front cover looked cold and icy, it was textures and blue, I can remember something about winter in the name of it. From what I can remember, the book started with a group of people travelling away from their village because it was being sort of, invaded? And they all had weird names like stark or raven, and there were also like ninja kind of people and they kidnapped one of the girls and held her in a canyon type thing where she was to maybe have kids? I don’t really know if any of this is true or I’ve just made it up so :’)

Another repost from LiveJournal:

think this book was published between Fall 2005 and Spring 2010, as I recall that the book was displayed prominently in the high school library; normally only new releases were displayed like this if I remember right. The main character's mother had escaped this pack of wolf-creatures (I think?) where she had been kept captive. The mother had been a captive for her whole remembered life before escaping, and it was a hellish memory for her. After escaping, she has to learn how to live in normal society, and she raises her daughter constantly on the move to avoid the pack recapturing them. The daughter was captured by that same pack as a teenager. I seem to recall there was a crumbling castle setting where the creatures lived, but it was a modern setting. In some sort of ritualistic thing, she had swirls painted on her skin, and one of the pack is supposed to take her as a mate. I distinctly remember a picture in the book depicting her with the swirls painted on her skin. I am pretty sure the pack's culture is declining, and they somehow "need" the girl in order to survive.  I think there was some kind of telepathy or empathy thing involved, too.

I remember my grandmother use to read me to my from a storybook one of the stories involved a Queen who was traveling by boat and was kidnapped by trolls(?) and a witch(?) took her place. But for three nights the real queen was permitted to visit her baby, she'd come up through the floor wearing rags and just hold her baby all night, and eventually was set free (the king broke the chains with a sword) and the imposter killed(?)

Bonus points if you can help me find the the storybook it comes from (it also had a version of the 12 dancing princesses in it, that's all I remember)
