Possibly a DnD book?

I recall reading this book at least 20 years ago. It was a place where women were perhaps training for war. They wore red leather to hide the bloodstains. Sort of like a Mistress/slave dynamic. I can't remember which world it was in, possibly Dragonlance? I don't believe this was the main part of the story, more like just a part of the whole tale, maybe a few chapters? I've been racking my brain, and can't seem to find anything with Google. Can nyou help?

Sounds like Terry Goodkind’s Mord-Sith, in his sword of Truth series.

Agreed. The starting book is Wizard's First Rule, and I think that the dom gals show up in... book 3? 4? I'd stopped reading by then, but my spouse continued.
