I read this novel when I WAS a teen, but it was aimed for a young adult crowd. Between 2005-2008. I love this book so much I had my mom print it out for me because I wanted to read it offline too. (I know I’m awful, but it was never available or purchase.)

Definitely a vampire novel. Three different tiers of vampires. The main character is one of the highest tiers, and she hunts the lowest tier vamps. Their classification starts with an ‘M’ I believe.

Main character is roommates with a “middle tier” vamp, which is like a big faux pas. Roommate gets killed. It’s a really big deal.

There’s a prophecy about the main character and her entire existence, dating back to past lives (?) I believe.

the prophecy was put down through a vampire being able to “See” it and painting it with (his) blood! He paints the prophecy incorrectly because it portrays HIM as ruining the world somehow

Vampires were created to be a companion to someone else that “God” made (not called God in the book).

Main character has a sister who is involved with the big bad in the book in some way, I think. Sister is crazy.

MCs roommates name might’ve been Gabriella/Gabrielle/Gabby. She is possibly a stripper.

Book starts off with MC hunting for the bottom tier “bad” vampires at a really well to do party.

I *think* the authors first name started with a K. That or the MC started with a K.

Driving me crazy trying to find it. The website was white with some gothic-esque frills on it.

This lady wrote several novels/novellas on her website.

I read this book I think around 2014 but definitely within the range of 2010 to 2015. I think this book was part of a series, but I only read the first one if that is the case. It was definitely fantasy, and I would guess that it is young adult. It was about a boy and a girl, either cousins or brother and sister, who were both high school age. The boy was slightly younger than the girl and he was much more serious. The girl was more of a typical teenager, and I think a bit of a rebel. I don't remember how but somehow the boy and the girl get transported to another world - possibly this is caused by the father? This new world exists outside of time, in a way. It's populated by all kinds of ancient civilizations who have been living there for a long time, basically not aging. The civilizations include Neanderthals, Aztecs, possibly Vikings or Amazons, and a few others. They also are all able to communicate with each other, which is due to the magical properties of these crystals that are plentiful in this realm. The color of the crystals corresponds to its abilities. One color of crystal acts as a translator. Another color is a source of energy. Another color causes them to live forever. Another color acts as a protective barrier. One thing I DISTINCTLY remember happening is when the boy and the girl end up there they are taken to the leader, who questions either their cell phones or their flashlights. At this point the boy attempts to explain science to the people, but the translator crystal keeps translating the word "science" as "magic". The boy tries a couple of times and then finally is able to say "science", but that has no meaning to the crystal people.

I don't remember exactly what happens next, but I know that the girl joins a tribe of female warriors - likely either Amazons or Vikings. The boy befriends several teenagers of different civilizations, including a Neanderthal boy. I remember that there is a clear class system in the crystal realm, and that the Neanderthals are basically treated as idiot servants. But **SPOILER** they are actually extremely intelligent and faking their stupidity out of paranoia. **END SPOILER**

I don't remember much of the overarching plot but I think there might have been some evil scheme and unrest brewing between civilizations. Also possibly crystals going missing?

Anyway, that's all of the information I can remember. Does anyone know what book I mean? Thank you so much!

**Edit**
This book has now been found, thanks to the much appreciated efforts of the glorious and lovely kaylee66!!!

The title is Jake Ransom and the Skull King's Shadow.

I read the first one of this series between 2008 and 2009. The parts that I remember about it was that the main character was a virgin and somehow her being a virgin gave her abilities of some sort. early in the book she got drunk and had a one night stand, also there was a horse that ate a human in order to get three wishes one of which was the ability to digest meat so he wouldn't die, the other was the ability to breathe fire and the third was to be giant.

I’m searching for a novella/short story I last read in primary school (late 1990s/early 2000s). It was one of a series of short spooky stories by the same publisher - another was about teen vampires, I think there may have been an alien one too.

This book was from the perspective of a teen girl whose best friend has recently died (I think from suicide), and is now haunting her. The friend (I think her name is Fern) taps on the girl’s window and shows her a pendant or necklace, which I think is a fish or fish tail. The girl works out that Fern has left her letters or a journal inside an old tree that they used to hide letters to each in as young children. These tell the story of why Fern died.

Fern became obsessed with a new, young teacher who started at the girl’s school, to the point where she would start predicting the colour of his ties or clothes. I don’t remember if the teacher might have an interest in Fern too, but I think she gets rebuffed. Either as a result of this, or for some other reason, when she sees the teacher get into trouble in the ocean, she doesn’t do anything to help and he drowns. She then kills herself a short time later.

I think this fish or fish tail necklace or pendant also plays a role (maybe given to Fern by the teacher?) and might feature on the book cover art, or be in the title in some way.

I might have a few details slightly off, but if this storyline sounds familiar or you can help identify the series of short scary stories it could be part of, it would be so appreciated!

Forgotten the title & author of a young adult fantasy book (series maybe?).

Read the book(s) about 4-6 years ago. Orphan teenage girl working as a servant in a middle age-ish kingdom. Kidnapped by mythical people (elf/fairy/fae types) and it is revealed she is important and has a special power/ability which she never knew about. Sarcastic & handsome prince which she eventually falls for.

I know it sound generically YA... but two things I remember distinctly is the fact she was terrified of becoming a changeling and I think it ends with a maze/realm at the end of the book.

(PS. It's not "Red Queen" or "Shadow & Bone")

Hello! I have been searching for the title of a novel I read for a book report during Sixth Grade (circa. 1998-99). Of course, the book could have easily been written much earlier than this time period.

My memory is hazy in terms of what the novel was actually about, but I remember one scene quite clearly. There is a young girl (red-headed, I believe), and she is sent into town to fetch supplies for the old woman who is taking care of her. During this time the young girl experiences her first menstrual cycle, and the older woman admonishes her for going out in public while this is happening.

I think this novel was truly just about a young girl who was trying to find herself/purpose in life. I come back to it from time to time, wishing I could re-read it to possibly gain a better perspective now that I'm older.

I read this book years ago and i cannot remember the name or title. I can remember vague details:

Set in America

I think it was set in the past (1950s?)

Involves a girl, mother and father moving to another city either on holiday or because their current home in their current city is not safe for them weather wise.

Involves the girl meeting an older man and becoming involved with him.

The girl dresses grown up, dressing in her mothers clothes and jewellery and makeup.

The man and girl spend time at the hotel pool

The man takes the girl for drives in his car.

Thankyou, i really want to find the title of this book to read it again

I read this book in about 2013, though I’m not sure what year it was released or the publisher. All I remember is that the cover was white and grey, like monochrome, and all you saw was a road, a blurred out figure and sort of mist/fog/blur.
The premise of it was that this teenage boy (16-18) goes out to find his missing/dead sister. He also had a brother who I believe had something to do with her disappearance. There’s a part in the story where the boy gets into a fight with two older men, and I believe that when the brother shows up? Those are about all the details I can remember, but I do remember I loved this book, and have wanted to find it with no luck for months! Any help is super appreciated!! <3

Help me, please!

I read this book in the mid-early 2000's and cannot remember the title or author. I remember that it was about a teenager who moves and lives in a little bungalow/shack over the water and there is a surfer who sleeps on her roof because he is homeless. They are pretty close in age. They befriend each other and later they realize that he is her long-lost brother who was kidnapped when they were young. It mentions a red ball from their childhood, which is one of his only childhood memories. This girl also dates a super wealthy boy from across the pier and one of her friends struggles with anorexia.

I know that all makes no sense, which is why I can't find it.

Help me figure this out PLEASE!

• the main character hunted dragons from the past that are committing crimes?
• there was 1 dragon who was pure white who liked keeping things and his hoard clean
• dragons has human and dragon forms
• it takes place in the modern day
• each dragon has a specific weakness

Hello,

I remember reading this book about a teenage boy who is an assassin but doesn't know it until some major event happens at his house which causes him to go on the run from the organization that trained him.  Most significant things i remember is that he could heal quickly, at one point in the book he breaks back into his house i think and gets a large shard of glass in his arm; but when he removes it there's not blood, he just notices that underneath his skin in this layer of gray skin.  He's a good fighter, i believe later in the series he has a hideout near a train station with a female accomplice? I know that there are other assassins that are like him who are brought into the series, one of those are brought in to kill him and is equal to the hero, thus being his "evil counterpart."  I believe they end up fighting and the hero throws the counterpart into a shredder or something at a farm i think? It takes place in modern times, pretty sure Europe? maybe the UK, pretty populated area, he runs through a park at some point while being chased.

Sorry if the details aren't the best, its been awhile.  But any help would be AWESOME, Thank you!

Hi All. Funny how the brain works. Randomly thought of this book when my fiance and I were talking about cool books we read in high school!

So what I CAN tell you about this book.

• It was made between 2007-2010 (I read in HS)
• It had to be young adult.
• Fantasy book.
• They could shape shift, into big cats.
• I DON'T recall it being a series....however I could very well be wrong.

Where it gets wishy-washy with my memory:

I believe the story had a plot similar to a girl can shape shift into a large cat of some sort. So can an "attractive guy" that could also shape shift. I believe he either asked her or captured her to live with him in a huge house (or castle). I vaguely remember this place having a large garden and they spent some time bonding and getting to know each other in the garden. I remember the guy being some what of a jerk but kind of a soft guy at the same time.

As all young adult books go - I'm sure there was some type of love triangle going on. I sort of remember there being something like that in this book.

ANYTHING in the right direction would be GREATLY appreciated. As I'm pretty sure I'm wearing out google by searching everything I can think of.... LOL

I'm hazy on a lot, but it is young adult sci-fi/romance ish. I think it starts out with a girl being attacked in the park and these boys save her. She is confused about how they were able to use some of their abilites - I think they made something appear or dissapear to save her. She then soon/later finds out by doing some digging that she as well has these abilities as it runs in the family. (which is why those guys that attacked her were after her - bc she has those abilites) I remember that the guys that saved her were there for a reason (to train her on her abilites). They take her to a warehouse in the middle of nowhere ( for safety) and it is extremly decked out with flats screens and pool tables and they have motorcycles that they all created with their mind. I remember one part of the book that really stuck with me was that in part of her training she is thrown into a deep ditch (that is a creation of one of the guys minds) and she has to manifest objects with her mind in order to get out of the hole. She freaks out and is like "why are they doing this to me", but it was to train her so that she is prepared for attacks. She also I believe has a love connection with one of the guys as well. I'm pretty sure its a series!!! And I would love to finish it because I don't believe I ever did!!!! I would be so appreciate if someone knows what book I am talking about. Thank you!!!!!

-somehow popular boy comes back to life
-hazy on how the book actually ends

so yeah if anybody knows, please enlighten me

Hello! So, like everyone here I read a book back when I was younger and I can't for the life of me remember it's name. It was either a fantasy or YA novel. The book cover was red and black, I think it had the outline of a wolf in red or black. Anyways, the plot was basically about this young princess who was feared by all the servants, and kingdom because she turned into a monster, I think it was a wolf, once a month. I think she either had a red cloak that prevented the transformation or a potion or she was just locked in a room until the transformation ended. I can't quite remember. Anyways, one day her father says she's been betrothed to some prince from an island. Now this prince and the island kingdom are feared because he's supposedly evil and violent. She also has brothers who are protective of her, and love her. So anyways, she forced to depart, but she's very self-loathing so she feels she deserves to be married to a monster since she is one. Turns out the prince and the kingdom aren't nearly as bad as she expected, they fall in love and I can't remember if the brothers try to rescue her or something. Anyways, it was an incredible book about learning to love yourself, and a lovely romance, and I would love to read it again. Please let me know if you know the title, thank you!

I don't remember much about the novel other than the opening sequence featured a part where there were two characters who drove a car off a bridge or cliff and the car went underwater, it could have been a mother and a daughter but am unsure.. then it goes to describle how the car is filling up with water up to her nose and then over their heads and then the whole car is full and how they escape the car by smashing out the window and swimming to surface.

This was a series I believe I read in the early(?) 90's about 4 girls who maybe were already friends and went to college together, or maybe some of them already knew each other? I'm pretty sure there was nothing paranormal or anything about the books, just basically the series was kind of a teen soap opera type deal with the girls in college. Lots of friend and girl drama.

I think each book may have been told from a different girls' perspective or was about one girl at a time. I know at least one was in a sorority or pledging and it caused drama.

I believe I was getting them via Scholastic book club, but not sure.

Im looking for a book that has a bunch of short stories. I sadly only remember one short story in it. It was a supernatural type of short story book. I read it in the YA section about 6 years ago. The short story I remember I believe was one of the first stories in it. I don't remember much, but i remember for sure that it was about a vampire who owned an old movie theater. He would microwave his blood in the office and he would walk around the theater. I believe there was a girl in the theater who wirked there, and I'm pretty sure there was some romance in it as well. I can't remember that much about it, but I know the movie theater thing was for sure, which I hope narrows it down since there's not many like that. It was a short story that was one of the first stories in the book. I hope I can find it. :)
