SF novel read in the 80s which was accidentally put in the kids' section of the local library because it had a spaceshippy cover and freaked me out.
The bit I remember had a decadent society that did weird gladiatorial combats. One involved two men with remote-controlled explosive dildoes up their backsides, with the object being to guide the other person's dildo far enough in that it would blow up their abdomen (described in gory detail). I'm always sure someone else would remember that, but nobody seems to.

Date: June 7th, 2018 04:59 (UTC)Philip Jose Farmer and Robert Silverberg are apparently known for putting in... "interesting" sex in their books (PJF even writing a pornographic trilogy for a pr0n publisher, under his own name), so perhaps one of those...
https://hradzka.livejournal.com/194753.html doesn't mention that scene, but who knows about the author...
And it's nearly 1am and I haven't found anything useful except that a lot of Classic SF Authors were apparently pretty pervy at times. (No kidding. >_> )
Good luck!
