EDIT: Found! It's Cry of the Icemark, by Stuart Hill.

I've been trying and failing to find this book for years, so I might as well try here! \o/
I read this YA Fantasy book in 2012 at the latest, but I doubt it was published earlier than 2000. What I remember:

1) The protagonist was a princess of some kind(?), or possibly the daughter of the leader of some kind of warrior tribe. Possibly red-haired.
2) The mother of the protagonist is dead pre-book. I think the father dies at the beginning of the first book.
3) The protagonist goes to a land with ice/snow and makes peace with a race of giant talking beasts that her people fear. I'm pretty sure the beasts are snow leopards. The protagonist rides at least one of them at some point, I think.
4) The protagonist has a guy love interest. When she meets him, he's trying to help heal someone, I think? He's some kind of wizard / has magic. He might be called Oscar.
5) At some point, near the end of the book, the love interest bursts into flames (due to magic gone wrong, maybe?) and he's horribly burnt. I seem to recall him running around a courtyard of some kind while naked?
6) The cover might be the red-haired protagonist accompained by a snow leopard / white beast, but I might be confused here.
7) There's a second book, in which the protagonist and her love interest are not teens anymore, but adults with several children, and those children are the main focus. I think the book starts with one of their children betraying the rest.

Hi everyone, I am wondering about a book-series (at least what I remember being a series) I read in the mid-2000s.

From what I can remember, the book was centred around two children/teenagers. One of them a boy, the other a girl. They might have been related, as well. Somehow, they arrange some magic stones that open a portal into a different world where magic is present. It becomes apparent that there are several different worlds that they can travel to through these rocks, each rock having signs that symbolize what world they visit might consist most of (like rocks with ice, water and snow will send them into a very cold and chilly world). They meet a wizard (I'm pretty sure), who belongs to an order. He turns out to be not that nice. The girl has strong magic abilities, she also finds out that her father might belong to one of these worlds and she becomes desperate to find him. I think the wizard hatches a basilisk, who is very intelligent, and who begins to turn everyone in the village to stone. The boy, if I am not remembering wrong, has the ability to shapeshift. I am pretty sure he is able to turn into a wolf.

I cannot for the life of me find out what this series is called, please help me! I would love to revisit them.

Hi,

I am looking for an original historical fantasy M/M book which included cat-like people as a species co existing with humans. One of the central characters was a cat person, who was a soldier I think. There were other cat people in the story, some of whom were kind of villainous.

Another character was a mute orphan boy (name was probably Eli?) who turned out to be a fire-starter mage. The boy's father was revealed later to be a healer, who was supposed to be celibate and thus the boy's birth was a secret. In this world the healers lived in a kind of impenetrable tower and they were all sorta immortal. The tower was taken over by evil forces who tortured the healers.

There were 2 other central characters whom I can't remember at all. As far as I remember, this is a published book.

Really hope someone remembers this story and can help me find it! Thanks in advance!

Main character is a boy.
Fantasy novel.
The boy is forced to leave his home for some reason and goes to the forest. There is a druid/wizard character there that might take him on as an apprentice. There are a few others there doing the same thing. They are all give challenges (none of which I remember) in order to weed out those not suited/worthy. At one point the boy might get stuck in a grave. Anyway, the end of the story is the boy figuring out the last challenge. It’s a riddle carved on a tree. There’s a picture in the novel and it looks like Celtic tree script. The solution is to read it upside down. He wins and gets to study magic.

There’s only one book, it’s not a series as far as I know.

I read the book in the earlier 2000s.

The cover I think had a silhouette running across it

Hi, I have been trying to find a book I read maybe 10-12 years ago. I loved it and have been wanting to reread it, but can not remember the name and can't find it at all. It was about a magician or illusionist who is grieving his girlfriend who died. But then one day he sees her alive at a train station (I think it was a train station) and the story takes off from there. I don't remember a lot of details, just the basic plot and that I really enjoyed it. This was an adult fiction novel. Thanks in advance for any help with this! So hoping to finally find it.

I read a book a very long time ago and can remember basically nothing about it but that I loved it. I know this is gonna be a long shot but I gotta try. It’s a book about a witch with read hair and emerald geeen eyes. I know it wasn’t set in modern times, it had more of medical times. It was definitely a romance novel that my young teen eyes new nothing about when I read it haha. So there was a sex scene I’m pretty sure in a cave and maybe on the cave ceiling? And I’m sure the cover of the book was a bluish green witha picture of a red headed girl on the cover. Those or the things I’m pretty sure of. There might have been like some sort of council or government like school she was going to? I honestly don’t remember. I read it thinking it was gonna be just a nice witch book I borrowed from my great Grandma but it ended up being more. And unfortunately when she passed the book was nowhere to be found.

I remember my grandmother use to read me to my from a storybook one of the stories involved a Queen who was traveling by boat and was kidnapped by trolls(?) and a witch(?) took her place. But for three nights the real queen was permitted to visit her baby, she'd come up through the floor wearing rags and just hold her baby all night, and eventually was set free (the king broke the chains with a sword) and the imposter killed(?)

Bonus points if you can help me find the the storybook it comes from (it also had a version of the 12 dancing princesses in it, that's all I remember)
