Hi. I wonder if you could help me, please. I'm searching for the name of the author who wrote three fiction novels with the same main character. The main character is an ex-US Army MP, ex-Secret Service Agent who works for a bodyguard agency in Asia. In the first novel, his ex-army buddy's body is found half eaten in Hawaii. In the second novel, he returns to his home city (I think it was New York) to bury his father. He drinks with his older brother in a bar, then leaves the bar with a girl he met. The next day he discovers his brother is in a coma in the hospital after a severe beating. His brother visited an after-hours club that used a membership card with the drawing of a woman holding a finger to her lips. In the third book he flies to London, England to rescue his first love and her young daughter from the middle of a drug war between a Jamaican drug gang and a Croatian gang led by her dead husband's uncle who was killed by Dobermans. Any assistance with the name of one of the books or the author's name is much appreciated. Thank you.

This is a book that I probably read about ten years ago so I'm sorry if this is very rambling. It was mainly a contemporary romance/mystery book about a woman whose father had recently died, but he had left her a house/apartment in New York(?) and she had to move there and find out what happened to her grandmother who had disappeared when the father was younger. The father had planned to move there himself before he died. The grandmother had been a singer and a gangster's girlfriend when she was a young woman.

The male protagonist lived in the same building (I think) and had known the father. He also had an honorary uncle/godfather that had been secretly involved with the grandmother when she was younger. He was also very rich, had a twin brother and a large family and I vaguely remember a party/family event where the twin brother tried to play a prank on the female protagonist where he pretended to be his brother but the female protagonist didn't fall for it.

At one point in the book the now old gangster turned up and tried to claim being the female protagonist's grandfather. Throughout the book there were also flashbacks of the grandmother's life to try to help solve the mystery as to what happened to her.

I read this paperback back in 2001 while working as an intern. It was on my borrowed desk and I was bored.

The book cover said it was made into a mini series.

It revolves around a young girl and the Mafia. The girl (I think her name was Mauve or something similar) got pregnant and was forced to have an abortion that left unable to ever have kids. She got involved in the family business after that. She blew up an entire lot of rival ice cream trucks. She stole an armored truck and buried it. She fell in love with an FBI agent that was there to take down her family. She helps them and in the end, they are together on a plane.
