"Found Book": Previously, Can't find a book I read some time ago

And I could look through Amazon forever...same with Google.

I believe the title was The Princess and I believe it was a hardcover. I read it years ago, somewhere between 1968 and...not sure. It was about a woman who found out she had cancer. I'm not sure if she WAS married or got married. She was reluctant to get pregnant, but then she did and the cancer disappeared. It would help if anyone can provide possible books and authors.

I think your inquiry is too vague. Do you remember when you read it? Asking where you read it or how old you were when you read it may trigger a date range.

Can you remember anything about the cover other than it was a hardcover book? Can you remember where you got your copy?

I really am not sure when I read it. My best guess is between 1968 and maybe 1973? But it's very hard to recall if I was still in high school or not. Actually, I'm not positive I was in high school yet! Admittedly, I have a bad memory.

I borrowed the book from the library, which makes me think I was probably still in school, so 1968 (sophomore) to 1970. But I was also at home after I was married (1971) while my husband was overseas in the military, so I don't know. That would take it to summer of 1973 when we left for a home elsewhere. It's even possible it was my school library, but I believe it was our village library.

As to the cover, I really don't recall. It may have had a picture of a young woman on it. And something wants me to say it was "pinkish", but that's just a vague inclination.

Yay, I know this one. It's The Princess, by the Finno-Swedish Gunnar Mattson. (Original title Prinsessan, from 1966). It's been translated from the Swedish by Joan Bulman.

The story is about Mattssons wife, there is a book about the child too, "the Prince", but it doesn't look as if it's been translated. Mattsson wrote several auto-biographical books, but The Princess is his biggest success.

I believe this is it. A search at Amazon resulted in NO match. However a Google search coughed up an Amazon listing for the book? How wonderful, Amazon.

I can't believe I finally had my flawed memory vindicated. I was wondering if I seriously misremembered the title of the book. I did not...

I'm so glad it has been found! I'd love to get my hands on a copy of this, too.

What we do now is change the *lost book tag to *found book. You can also add "Found" to your title, just click on "edit entry". Please leave questions up, as others might want to find that book, too! :)
