Here via [personal profile] redbird! I've been wondering about the title of a young adult novel I read sometime in the late '80s. It was about a girl who had scoliosis and had been in the hospital for a long time, and didn't want to leave, but was told "we need the hospital for kids who are really sick." A character in the book said "horse plops" as a swear. The author was a woman, but none of this was apparently enough to find the book on Google. Any ideas?

I feel like I read that one as well, but I don't remember anything helpful about it. My strong memory is about her being in some kind of cast. Sorry :{

I suspect I mostly remember it because a few years later one of the music kids in the year below me was diagnosed with scoliosis, and I remember trying to work out (without being nosy) how much of the story I remembered matched to real life.

Was this one where there were two girls with scoliosis sharing a hospital room, and one was a jock and one a romantic, and they became bffs just the same?

The one I"m thinking of is Just Like Always by Elizabeth Sachs - see if that's the same one!

Very late comment here, but I've only just discovered this community :)

Could the book have been Deenie by Judy Blume?
